About E-ACT’s Governance Team
E-ACT is a multi-academy trust responsible for 28 academies across England. The governance team works across all academies and with regional staff to support compliance, good corporate governance and risk management delivery. E-ACT has been incorporated with one Board of Trustees and a unique local governance structure. The trust does not have local governing bodies but instead, gains its parental voice from academy ambassadors who support each individual academy. The team is lead by the National Director of Governance and Risk with this role reporting into an experienced and respected Governance Manager.
About the role
The overall purpose of the Governance Officer role will provide a full range of administrative support services across the governance function. The role will play a key role in providing an excellent service to all stakeholders. The post-holder will deliver a high quality, proactive and efficient service reporting to the Governance Manager and working closely with colleagues across the trust to provide a proactive, supportive and holistic service. The post-holder requires a broad understanding of governance aspects in order to use their judgement of how to deal with enquiries as they arise. The post calls for a high degree of autonomy, initiative, judgement, confidentiality and discretion. The post is essentially one of organisation and communication between internal contacts with responsibility for overseeing and delivering governance as well as key external contacts.
Our ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven track record as a clerk to governors or similar secretarial role. The ability to provide accurate minutes and deliver work streams within agreed timescales is essential. An interest in governance is also essential along with the ability to provide reliable and accurate work, especially in areas of compliance.
The governance team performs and delivers professional and ethical standards and sets an example across the trust. It is essential the successful candidate not only believes in the values of E-ACT but is able to demonstrate they will continue to act in accordance with them. The successful candidate must be able to articulate a strong desire to work in governance and support the delivery and continued development of a first-class service.
The successful candidate
The successful candidate will need to have demonstrated their personal attributes (contained within the person specification) and how these will be used to enable positive and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders. You will be expected to engage confidently and professionally with a range of regional and national colleagues as well as academy staff and ambassadors.
