The Role

Headteacher - Greenfield E-ACT Academy

Due to the promotion of our highly respected and successful Headteacher, we have an exciting opportunity for a new Headteacher to join Greenfield E-ACT Primary Academy in January 2023.

Greenfield E-ACT Primary Academy is an ambitious 3-11 primary academy with its own nursery in Knowle, Bristol. We are committed to providing an outstanding education by placing the pupils at the centre of all we do. There is a real buzz about our academy and the rate at which our pupils progress. We are looking for a strong candidate to take on day-to-day leadership and developing/implementing the vision and strategic direction of the academy.

Keen to challenge young people with opportunities they may not even know exist yet? We aim to raise pupils’ aspirations so they believe in themselves and understand that there is nothing holding them back, including where they happen to live or their family’s experience in education. We know just how important it is to think big and to help break those glass ceilings faced by young people today. Together we can encourage our pupils to step out of their comfort zones, build self-esteem and broaden their horizons.

We believe in looking beyond textbooks and whiteboards and are committed to developing our pupils by enabling them to challenge themselves in new ways and supporting them to maintain their emotional and physical wellbeing. By helping our teachers to develop into leaders within the profession, we know that we are also helping our pupils to develop into the leaders of the future.

Within the role you will be supported by our Regional Educational and Operational team, and you will need to provide strategic leadership for overseeing and embedding quality and standards in teaching, learning and assessment across the academy. You will need to be an inspiring role model of excellent classroom practice, ensure standards of support are effective across all areas of responsibility and set high expectations for staff and students.

We expect the successful candidate to:

  • Have previous experience of leadership
  • Be a team player
  • Have a thorough understanding of school budget
  • Be able to demonstrate significant impact in a leadership role within a primary school
  • Be a leader who can inspire and motivate staff, pupils and parents
  • Be able to clearly articulate a vision, and set and implement the strategic direction for the academy

The contract on offer is permanent and full time, and the salary range for the post is Leadership scale 17-25, however the Trust will consider a competitive salary outside of these scales for the right candidate. For a full description of the role, see the job description and person specification.

We encourage you to get in touch with any questions and visits to the academy are welcome by prior arrangement. To arrange a visit please contact the school office by emailing receptiongre@E-ACT.org.uk or calling 0117 377 2191 with your availability.

Come join our team

Quite aside from the opportunity to work with pupils whose energy, creativity and enthusiasm never fail to inspire, our academy is:

  • Ofsted good rated, recognised for helping pupils to progress from often low starting points.
  • Committed to teacher development through E-ACT’s professional learning program in partnership with leading training providers such as Ambition School Leadership.
  • Leading the way in youth mental health through our very own Mental Health First Aid programme - we aim to train every teacher as a mental health first aider.
  • A leader in the education sector for outstanding employee benefits including a generous maternity policy and opportunities for flexible working.
