The Role

Learning Mentor - St Ursula's E-ACT Academy


We know just how important it is to think big and to help break those glass ceilings faced by young people today. Together we can encourage our pupils to step out from their comfort zones, build self-esteem and broaden their horizons.


The successful candidate will support students to overcome individual barriers to learning by identifying the problems and creating solutions and proving a support service for designated students, reporting to the Academy Headteacher, you will be accountable for ensuring our pupils can overcome barriers to their learning by providing support for academic, behaviour and pastoral issues, including those of a safeguarding nature.


Overview of main responsibilities:


  •    Support pupils with behaviour needs to reinforce expectations, routines and positive behaviour as well as implementing appropriate sanctions as per the academy behaviour policy.


  •    To have knowledge of a range of strategies and interventions that could be drawn upon to provide support for pupils with additional behavioural needs. 


  •    Implementation of strategies to support the inclusion of pupils with additional needs


  •    Maintaining regular contact with parents/carers of pupil's receiving support and encourage involvement in the pupil's academic progress and behaviour.


  •   To build a strong/positive relationships with pupils and families so that you are seen as an approachable member of staff.


  • Liaise with relevant external services to access support for pupils as appropriate.


Accountabilities: 


Understanding and adhere to all E-ACT policies and relevant DFE statutory guidance with specific references to the following: 


  • Keeping Children Safe in Education 
  • Working together to safeguard children 
  • E-ACT Safeguarding Policy 
  • E-ACT Health and Safety Policy 
  • E-ACT code of conduct. 


Maintain confidentially of specific pupil/family concerns at all times and share information only as appropriate with information sharing protocols. 


Salary: SCP24-28 - Actual: £29,045.39 - £32,232.78 - FTE: £33,024 - £36,648
