We are seeking to appoint a Learning Hub Manager/Careers Support who will oversee the management of the Learning Hub, and who can tutor small groups and individual students in English / Literacy up to GCSE level.

 

The successful candidate should be able to offer excellent communication skills along with experience of working with young people. Academically you would need to be sufficiently qualified to tutor students to GCSE standard (see person specification). This position provides excellent preparation for people who are considering careers in teaching and who are looking to gain experience of working with young people or working in a school setting.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • To ensure that The Learning Hub is accessible and welcoming to students and staff during specified opening times.
  • To supervise The Learning Hub at designated times and ensure it is a productive and appropriate independent working space for students.
  • To ensure The Learning Hub displays are up to date, inspiring and promote the ethos of reading and literacy, student independence and growth mindsets. 
  • To support in timetabled Reading Lessons by working with targeted students on a 1:1/small group basis
  • To assist with the co-ordination and delivery of activities and events to promote higher education progression with a wide range of stake holders, including Universities, Colleges, Local Authorities, Schools and other Local Partnerships. The delivery of these activities will take place in a variety of settings

 

Pay range: SCP 12-18 -  £23,237.89 - £25,742.78 (FTE £26,421.00 to 29,269.00) - 37 hours per week 39 weeks per year.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree or equivalent relevant qualification
  • GCSE Maths and English minimum grade 4 or equivalent
  • Library management systems
  • Ability to demonstrate, role model and inspire a passion for reading
  • Development of a school library collection and learning resources
