This role presents an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their Science Technician skills.


The role will be predominately The Parker Academy but with occasional travel to your academies and of course, to build on your relationship with our fantastic E-ACT colleagues.

Coordinate the use of resources and facilities and aid and advice in meeting the practical needs of the curriculum, liaising with teaching staff and other support staff. Ensuring the maintenance of a healthy and safe working environment and to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of specialist resources. Routine and non-routine checking, maintenance, calibration, testing and repairing of equipment. Assist in the smooth running of the department.

Key responsibilities:

You will experience the full breadth of what a Science Technician has to offer, here is just a tiny example to whet your appetite:


• Assisting teachers in practical lessons and carrying out demonstrations.

•Constructing and modifying apparatus.

•Safe disposal of waste materials including hazardous substances.

•Collecting, checking and returning equipment and other learning resources to stores.

•General cleaning of bench and table resources, cupboards, and fixed equipment.

•General cleaning and repair of equipment and other learning resources.


Pay range: NJC 6 - 10 - Pro Rata

Qualification Title Grade
5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 4-9) or equivalent
Degree in subject relevant to the school curriculum


Knowledge of COSHH regulations
Experience of working within a Science department
Good knowledge of up-to-date techniques, materials, and equipment relevant to the National Curriculum
Relevant Skills
Ability to manage pupil behaviour and create a safe environment
Personal Attributes
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, parents and students
